First of all, I want to apologize for the lack of a newsletter last month. We _DO_ have it in Adobe .PDF format, but for some reason, Adobe Pagemaker made life difficult for us, and by the time we got it all worked out and sent, it was too late. Tim and
myself apologize for the inconvenience.

Speaking of Tim, due to personal reasons, he has temporarly stepped down as RDC: Ops/Comm. We thank him for his service to the Region during his tenure! We are now looking for an Interim RDC: Ops/Comm chief to take his place. This person is also responsible for creating and editing the Subspace Communicator. . Persons interested should have Internet access, and a desktop publisher that is capable of outputting .PDF files for the website. Please submit applications to the RDC Chief, his address is listed in this issue. Applications should be Snail-Mailed to him (E- mailed applications will not be accepted), and should be in no later than October 10. In the meantime, any articles to be considered for the newsletter should be sent directly to me, and NOT to Tim.

You will notice that some of the articles in this issue were in the last issue. I am including them so that those of you who did not get the PDF version of the newsletter can still read them.

I would like to note that Michael Smith, Commander STARFLEET, was the only person to receive the requisite 5 nominations required by STARFLEET, so instead of an election, there will be a Vote of Confidence. I would like to thank those COís who did submit nominations, regardless of who they nominated and for those who did take an active role in the process. What is the difference between a election and a VoC? Well, a CPA does not need to be secured for a VoC, therefore, thousands of dollars are saved by that. Also, please remember that the ratification vote for the new Constitution will be included with the VoC, so please be sure to encourage your members to vote on both! The system doesnít work unless people participate!

I would also like to announce the newest addition to the Regional Staff. Commodore Jonathan ìGumbyî Simmons, XO of the Shuttle Stormbringer has been named the Region 4 Shuttle Operations Chief. Commodore Gumby plans to do great things with this office, and we wish him the best of luck!

***SPECIAL NOTE - NORTHERN SECTOR COíS ONLY***

Nominations for Northern Sector Commander will be accepted until October 10. Persons applying for this position should be current STARFLEET members, have OTS and OCC, and have been either a CO or XO on a chapter for no less than one year. Explain in your letter why you think you would be best choice for the position, as it is a competitive process (You will be selected by the Northern COís). Snail mail or E-mail your nominations and statements to me.

Now as some of you know, I have been working on the idea of Regional Patches. Unfortunately, no word yet on when they will be available, but I will keep you posted. One thing I have looked into is Regional T-shirts. Some of you ìOld Timersî remember or even HAVE the old Region 4 Embroidered T-shirt. Well, same idea, but with the new logo on it. The cost would be $15.00 for a one time setup fee, $12.00 for a light/white colored shirt, $15.00 for darker colors, and no minimum order. The shirts are heavyweights and come in either 100% cotton or 50/50. There is an additional $2.00 charge for sizes 2X to 4X. Please let me know if there is interest in this so we can send in the set up fee so you can get your orders in.

Now, I would like to remind all you COís that your MSRís are due in to myself and STARFLEET Operations NO LATER than the 5th of the month. I would like to really make this region a contender for Region of the Year, but I canít do it alone folks! I know that we are capable of so much more!

In case you did not get the E-mail, my primary phone number has changed. Please contact me if you do not have it. Also, this number does not have a Fax maching attached to it, so no more faxes please. Anyhow, that looks to be all for this month, so until then....

YO QUIERO TACO BELL!!!!
